This room is designed to help children grasp important skills yet the emphasis is on PLAY. The room accommodates a house area, cosy book corner, sandpit and a quiet area. We always have floor toys and tables with an array of table top games and jigsaws.
The room is regularly updated to ensure maximum stimulation and, although good fun, each toy is carefully selected to contribute to each child’s progress.
The room is inviting and is decorated with the children’s work so staff, parents and children can celebrate their achievements. Children have time to participate in structured activities as well as explore in free play sessions.
Children have their own ‘all about me’ file that is filled with photos, pictures and notes that help us build a picture of each child and monitor their development in relation to the Early Years Foundation Stage and relevant child developmental scales.
‘Positive behaviour’ and achievements are rewarded with a ‘star sticker’ on the sticker chart. All the children enjoy seeing the board fill up with stars!
Children are supervised at least 1:4 in this room.
Parents of children in the toddler room are asked to provide disposable nappies (if needed), at least one change of clothing, a comforter/dummy (if needed) and appropriate outdoor clothing such as sun hat and cream (when the sun comes out) or raincoat and hat (for the more frequent colder days!).
We ask that parents label their child’s belongings!
